It feels like it’s been a dog’s age since the last time I wrote a blog post. Once upon a time, I had a modest following as a gaming blogger, but that seems entirely forgotten by everyone but me at this point. (Though, in fairness, that was over a decade ago, and the internet’s memory isn’t always as long as you’d think.) So, this feels a bit like starting from scratch–something I must admit, I have mixed feelings about.
Spring always feels like a time of cleansing and renewal. The cold winter winds have faded and fresh greenery is sprouting where once, not too long ago, there was discarded brown detritus. It’s a familiar theme. One I am no less susceptible to than everyone else.
So here we are, resurrecting my long dormant life as a blogger.
In the interest of transparency, I must admit that this resurgence is in no small part due to the fact that I’m hip-deep in working on my first novel, and I have a strong desire to build an audience for said novel before its release. Though, that’s not simply because I’m hoping to generate some book sales. (My primary source of income lies elsewhere.) Of greater importance to me is interest. I want people to be interested in the things I create. I want my creations to be enjoyed. And that means putting myself squarely in front of eyeballs. Many, many eyeballs.
I also wanted a unified place for all my creative endeavors, not just the book I’m working on. While working on the novel is a time-consuming and, at times, brain-numbing process, I find I have an excess of creative energy that needs an additional outlet. One that’s a bit more casual and off-the-cuff. This will be that place.
So, the things you’re likely to find here will vary widely. I may post snippets from the novel (if so, this content will also be cross-posted to my Patreon), or other short stories. I will likely post opinion pieces or guides for games I’m playing from time to time, since that is still very much a big part of my life, just as it has always been. I also intend to share some pictures from my travels (I recently returned to the States after a year in Ireland), and other tidbits from my “real” life. I’ll probably post about books, comics, tv shows and movies I’ve enjoyed, and anything else that happens to strike my fancy.
I’m glad you’re here, and I hope you’ll enjoy your stay.
